Just What the World Needs, Another Blog
Queen Among Kings blogger Connie Kim asked me to be her co-blogger on the new SBNation Kings blog, and of course I said yes. The blog is called “Jewels From the Crown” and is to be found, shockingly, at www.jewelsfromthecrown.com. I’m going to keep this blog up and running, and will continue to post here once I get the lay of the land.

Mmmm…. I like this blog better. I guess your info and writing is all the same… but something about the layout of that other page irks me. Its cold.
Quisp, I’ll give it a try on one condition: Connie Kim has to officially adopt your Pension Plan Puppets quote cuz’ that page is fuuuuuuuuuuugly!
But who am I kidding? It’s already bookmarked…
Well, since I have no control whatsoever over the look or design of the blog, not to mention the title, I don’t take it personally at all that you think it’s ugly or cold. I must remain agnostic on whether I agree with you. I am partial to my own design, of course. But that’s okay, since we can have both. Also, I like the neighbors (Battle of California, Behind the Net, Mirtle). There’s lots of good stuff there.
You’re poor little blog was so fun to visit. Now it’s just a shell. I’ll continue checking out jewels but it doesn’t appear it will be the “funnel of info” kool-aid was… bummer.
It’s got even more info.
Hey, your open invitation to write for lakingsnews.com still stands Quisp :)
Surly speaks the truth. The dark side invitation is an open one.
You will be surrounded by poets and pugilists.
We’d be disappointed if you came.
The thought of you is more sexy…
I miss this website.
It may be coming back. For sure, it will come back as the black sheep cousin of the SB Nation blogging. I hope you have been visiting there, bookmarking, subscribing. I don’t know if I recall seeing your handles there (but that may be because I see them all the time everywhere else and can’t keep anything apart).
I peruse the SB one from time to time, maybe 3 times a week. Haven’t posted comments there or subscribed… like I said before, the layout bugs me and keeps me away for the most part. I know that shouldn’t deter me from your always wonderful writing and scouring of the net for interesting articles and links, but honestly it does. Part of it is just because I’m grouchy and don’t like changing once I’ve found something I like… like this blog. On the other hand, it did take me a few weeks to warm up to this site initially. Maybe in due time I’ll get over my peeves about SB nation.
I think what bugs me so much about it is that every other section of the blog takes up so much space. The actual articles seemed crammed in the middle. The boxes on either side shouldn’t be so damn large as to distract from the actual articles. I know clicking on an article makes it better, but the main page is just so cluttered. It also disappoints me to see ads next to your posts.
Sorry to be so negative…
Is there any kind of agreement that impedes you from posting the same stuff here, as opposed to just posting links to the other site?
I am not supposed to double-post, so I haven’t. I agree with you about the layout of the site; it’s cluttered. The advantage of SB Nation, though, is that it is a network of blogs. The people who blog the different teams are cross-pollinating constantly, and that makes for a pretty robust multi-cultural mix. Also, trolls are dealt with ruthlessly. I’ve been doing a lot of good stuff there (the usual stuff, but I like it) so it’s a travesty that you’re not seeing it. If you use Google Reader, which I highly recommend, you can read the posts without having to deal with the interface. I also think you should member-up at SBN though, because your voice would be a welcome addition. There is also a feature that allows members to blog in the margins, called “fanposts.” It’s pretty cool.
Also, frankly, the comment sections are more balanced than on Rich’s site. Because there’s a higher population of visitors from other blogs (of other teams, I mean), so you get commenters who are not fans of your team, but aren’t trolls.
I’ll give it a shot. I trust you enough.
I haven’t been posting much at Rich’s site, just sporadically for the reasons you mentioned, myopia and trolling.
I mostly post on HF and well, lakingsnews.com takes up a good deal of my time since its my site and all :)
How about a deal? I’ll member up at sbn and post there and you comment more on lakingsnews.com.
Deal.
